I was looking for LCD controlling software for m$ windows and found LCD Smartie. It looks very good but I can't make same thing like in linux LCDProc. This is Big screen size. Most of LCD are 2x20, 2x40 and the biggest one for LCD Smartie is 4x40. Sounds vey good, but this is still to less becuase You can still get bigger LCD screens.
I have old Palm Zire 21
It's nice device and still can do many things. I decided to use mine as LCD Proc. There is software for emulation LCD - it is working very good. I can choose there screen size up to 26x16! This is much more than 4x40 (160chars vs 416chars, thats 2,6x more!). I had no problems with setup under linux, it was only one small change in matrix orb plugin. Can You also make something like this in Your plugin? Main disadvatage of smaller size is that I have to use other PalmOrb software. In fact I can use smaller only on both platforms or change palm software everytime I would like to have bigger under unix and again to use smaller under windows. I hope this is not so big change, and You can do it
Palm devices are now very cheap, You can get one for very low price. Older models supports 160x160 resolution and some gray colors also. I think there will be much more people who will use them as controllers under windows. I know 3 people who actually done this. You can display other informations in screen such as keyboard, numbers, but all of that You can do with grafiti area. Extra characters would be very useful.
