Spectrum Analyzer flickering...

Post by DASQ »

Howdy everyone,

I got the spectrum analyzer pluging for Winamp working, but the graph itself flickers constantly. I've tried changing both the Refresh Interval and the DLL check interval, as well as pushing priorities for both LCD Smartie and Winamp to High. It just flickers constantly, no matter what I do :/ Just the analyzer flickers, if I put text alongside or on another line, it doesn't suffer from the same problem.

I wouldn't think this is a performance issue, I would assume a Core 2 Duo @ 3.43GHz should be able to handle this just fine :P

Suggestions, help, anything is welcome

Whats your DLL check interval set at? I think it needs to be somewhere like 50. 50 Seems ok on mine....

You may have to restart smartie for it to make a difference. Worth restarting winamp while your there too just incase...

Of course is not performance issue! :D I have this plugin running with the latest LCD Smartie in one pentium II PC and there is no problem at all.
I hope you already have visited this: http://lcdsmartie.sourceforge.net/winampplugin.html
There are two settings on LCD Smartie that can effect the dll behaviour.
"Dll check interval" & "Refresh interval" See the attachement image. Please set the values about 50 msecs.

Thanks for the replies guys!

Took the advice, tried 50ms for both, restarted both LCD Smartie + Winamp, but the problem exists.

It's still flickering like it's trying to give someone a seizure. It's flicker for 2-3 seconds, stop for half a second, flicker some more... etc.. etc...

And I have been to that page, it's where I downloaded the plugin :p

EDIT: Also tried switching from 5.3 to 5.4, made no difference. The meter looks fine in the LCD Smartie 'preview' screen, but the flickering only appears when translated to the VFD :/

I know the VFD can handle not flickering, the iMon software it came with can do spectrum analyzer graphs just fine.

So is the driving of the VFD then... if the virtual display can display the bars without problem...
What connection are you using? serial-parallel (looking for a speed setting to trigger)

It connects through USB2.0

Have you tried both drivers in 5.4? (imon.dll and imond.dll?)

Erm... Both drivers?

Where would they be? I was using the optical outmod plugin that's listed in this thread.
