lcd smartie and Vista MCE

Post by mgentile »

I have an Ahanix Dvine D4 case with a samsung vfd. I am running Vista Ultimate with the UAC turned off and have installed Lcd Smartie 5.3.3.18. In Vista, Lcd Smartie works and I get the proper display on my vfd. However, when I go into MCE, the I get the "dlportio.sys driver was not loaded. Port I/O will have no effect" error. How do I fix this so may display works in Vista MCE as well. Thanks.

is that an 64 bit OS?
I assume you have checked this:http://forums.lcdsmartie.org/viewtopic.php?t=856
if you are using 32 bit OS try to install port95 again.
Use the linked package.

Limbo,
I am running 32bit Vista Ultimate. I have the UAC turned off. I have reinstalled port95 and done the registry edits. LCD Smartie runs fine under Vista itself, but as soon as I go into MCE I get the following error: "dlportio.sys driver was not loaded. Port I/O will have no effect". In spite of this, information continues to scroll on the VFD. I was also wondering were the VFDdriverMCE.msi fits into the equation? Does that need to be installed too? Further, I have not installed the MCE plugin. Could that be the problem? Thanks for the help.

No you don't have to install any extra plugin to resolve this.
The problem must caused by the MCE (conflicting with dlportio.sys driver).
Is there any option on MCE using the parallel port? any extra LCD tool build in the MCE software?
Please check it.

Not to ask a stupid question, but how would I go about checking if MCE has an option on using the parallel port or an extra LCD tool built in? Sorry if it's a NOOBie type question.

Is there any output option to LCD?
Is there any option for display devices?

Thanks for the help Limbo. I am not sure what I did, but I uninstalled everything and then reinstalled and now it works.

Limbo,

I have been playing with LCD Smartie for a couple of days now. I get no errors and everything runs fine. I would like to know have to get Vista MCE info to display on the lcd. Is there a setting in LCD Smartie I have missed? I did see the Windows MCE plugin on the website from Axcis software, but before I spent money on a plugin, I wanted to know if there was a free solution. Thanks.

So, i must be getting confused:

Q: Is the MCE plugin required under VISTA MCE?
Q: If not, what settings do i need to use to display output from MCE?
