Hi, i have a JHD161A LED without backlight. It's using the KS0066 controller. I think that should be compatible with the HD44780 but i'm not sure.
The problem is that my LCD aren't showing me anything. I connected as the circuit scheme with some minor changes. Because i don't have backlight they aren't connected. And i connected VEE (contrast) directly to GND instad of using a potentiometer.
I'm using a USB port to power the LCD. The USB gives about 5.06 Volts. And my LCD operates between 4.5->5.5. So it has power.
I have the parallel port set to EPP. Are there any other setting that must be done?
There are no black boxes ore unserscores so it shows absolutley nothing.
In the app where i can set startup parameters there are the text "a1 = 1x16 adressing". Must i use this to get my 1x16 LCD to work?
And what sould i write? LPT1,a1 ?
And finally, must i do stuff in the right order? As connecting the LCD before starting LCDsmartie? Connect the power before the parallel port or anything like that?
Thanks in advance.
