Hello fellas, i wired this puppy up, and i get nothing from it, then after a few mins she will kick on, but display very odd and random display chars. some in another language.
I have checked and rechecked wires.
Changed lpt port settings, tryed just about everything I can think of.
Why wont it work right?

OK! i fixed it, i said to myself, ok now i know this is a good config for lpt to 44780, however it said to hook Pin 5 of my lcd R/W to pin 14 of my lpt port, THIS IS INCORRECT.
please perhaps say that pin r/w may need to be hooked to the printers lpt ground pins,18-25.
once i snipped the line from pin 14 on the lpt, then rehooked R/W to pin 18-25 she kicked right in.
So u may wanna add a note to wiring diagram.
because of this, i had this vfd for 2-3 years and never got past the odd chars.
