Check Ntlworld email?

Post by stoooey »

Hi,
First of all may I say what a brill forum you have here.

I bought a HD44780 20x4 LCD with 5.25 frame off ebay. I was wondering if I could receive my ntlworld pop email alerts on this unit. I searched the forum and could only spot members asking about gmail.

If it is possible, what settings should I use? here is what I tried to input without result,
Server: pop.ntlworld.com
SSL:
Loginname: *******@ntlworld.com
Password: **********

I ticked enable and don't skip, but it still shows as 0 mails (I sent test mails from hotmail)

Any ideas guys?

Can you confirm that the account is pop enabled? (I believe that you are using some email client to connect to. Is this connection POP3?)

Should there be anything in SSL: ?

My Netscape 3 email ( yes it's an old program but does what I need.. ) :D
Is set up as follows:

Outgoing SMTP: smtp.ntlworld.com
Incoming ( POP3 ): pop.ntlworld.com
Pop3 username: ****@ntlworld

And when you set up an account, you get prompted for the password upon first email download..

the username is your full email address? I recall my old virgin.net email (back when I lived in the UK) used only the first half of my email addy as username, not the @virgin.net part.

Please try writing 995 as SSL, this is the default SSL port, hope this should solve the problem.
Or maybe they use a non-standard SSL port for mail?

I managed to get it working after I formatted my pooter. using:
email :1
Server:pop.ntlworld.com
SSL: left blank
Login Name: My Login
Password: My password

The code for the smartie:$Email1 emails to read

This has worked for me. Let me know how you get on.
