I'm currently running windows vista on my htpc.
LCD Smartie works fine, but when i try to use the Windows Mediaplayer Plugin it just won't work. Whatever I do, it says "Author" or "DurationString". So I kinda get the feeling that LCD Smartie is just waiting for info from WMP, but doesn't get it.
I'm using LCD Smartie 5.4.1, Windows Media Player 9 Series Blogging Plug-in and wmpblog plugin. Is it possible that it just doesn't work in Vista or am I doing something wrong?
Our new official repo is on github

Fire up Media Player and play something
Then use the registry editor to browse to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\CurrentMetadata
and see if there's anything there in the information.
If the title, etc show up there, then the WMP plugin is doing it's thing, and it's possible that the smartie plugin just doesn't work under vista. It makes use of some API calls that monitor the registry, and that may not be supported under vista. Unfortunately I don't have vista here to try it with, so someone else will have to step to the plate to fix that.

Information
Im running Vista Home Premium 32bit
The CurrentMetaData registry entry mentioned above does not exist in regedit.
WMP Blog plugin does not work under wmp11 on vista.
My WMP11 on vista has uICE WMP installed. This was installed with a Now Playing sidebar gadget. This is described as a way of controlling WMP from external programs, webpages or scripts so we could have a control interface for MO buttons with a skilled plugin maker. Find uICE website here http://www.mediatexx.com/
There is one plugin that releases Metadata that i have installed. That is Windows Live Messinger plugin. This "Changes your personal message in Windows Live Messenger to show the currently playing song."
Also i have found the Vista sidebar gadget that finds song names called NOW Playing (mentioned above) by Law James. His Blog here http://gadgetdev.blogspot.com/
Hopefully someone finds this usefull and can make a good WMP plugin for LCD Smartie for Vista! My total inability to make the plugin can't stop me from being optimistic!

Hello, has anyone had any ideas or does no one but me read this topic any more? If a wmp plugin can be done for vista sidbar then it can be done for lcd smartie probably. I'm not saying you should have already finished as i know it takes a long time to code this stuff. Hope the info in my last post helped.
