Problem with Crystalfontz 635

This is an external 635. It works with the test program from crystalfontz.com (635_wintest_1_0.exe).. However LCD Smartie cannot talk to it. I set the values to be correct but the 635 screen goes blank when LCD smartie starts.

I got it working after playing around with the settings awhile. I have no idea what I did because I tried all the settings numerous times.
