Howdy all, in the actual program LCD simulation bit, does it normally show the winamp spectrum graph properly? I'm only getting ? and █ characters showing.
I've tried defining the custom characters myself, but it still just shows up with the degrees and block symbols.
Any ideas what's wrong (or is it just that I need to have my LCD plugged in? It's currently being replaced :(

Cheers,

Nothing's wrong! The virtual display can't display the custom characters.
But if you connect your screen you will be able to see the correct result :smt031

Oh cool, that's great news. Thanks for the quick reply :D
Now to work out how to connect my VFD.. hmm...

I have the connections:
1-Vss 2-Vcc
3-VLc 4-RS
5-R/W 6-E
7-D0 8-D1
9-D2 10-D3
11-D4 12-D5
13-D6 14-D7
15-VB+ 16-VB-
on my LCD wiring diagram,

and on the VFD datasheet I have
1- D7 3- D6
5- D5 7- D4
9- D3 11- D2
13- D1 15- D0
17- /WR 19- A0
21- NC 23- /CS
25- T0 27- BUSY
29- /BL 31- NC
33- RXD
with all the even numbered pins going to GND(0V)

I've connected the data pins to their corresponding pins on the VFD, but which is which of the others? (NC is no connection)

I can't say munkeevegetable :smt102
refer to the spec sheet of your screen.

Many Vfd displays support serial and parallel connection.
You have to select which one you want to use (and which is supported) and check the manual for details.

Be carefull with connections
