That schematic will never work with smartie.
Please use the schematics found here: http://lcdsmartie.sourceforge.net/circuits.htm
To only test LCDS's just connect as per schematic the pins 1,2,3,15,16
It should show a black row on the first line when powered on.

Yes Sir , I will do the same as you said and get back to you.
I am using LCD smartie 5.4 setup and in display plugin I have changed it to
HD44780.dll . Is this what you mean ?
In visual basic programming we keep the dll files into our System folder(windows/drivers). Do we have to do the same thing here to or LCD smartie will take care of this.
Also a last question before checking Sir,Will LCD smartie work on pentium 2or 3or 4 processors which has windows Xp?
Thank you once again Sir. I will continue as you said.....
Regards

You've got it right so far - select HD44780.dll in the Plugin tab under Display Settings, and type LPT1 or $378 (or the actual address if different) in the startup parameters box. On the Screen tab, select 2x16 for your LCD size.
The display driver (plugin) DLLs for Smartie are in the displays folder under your Smartie installation folder. This is the normal location and you don't need anything in your Windows/System folder.
Smartie should work fine on all PCs with WinXP 32bit and 64bit. Some people have had problems with Vista, especially 64bit.
