Help for setup

Post by Hungol »

Hello =)

I've been using LCD-Smartie for a few years ( or so), but after upgrading to vista i've failed to correctly setup lcd smartie to work again.
The problem is three-sided.

A) Most importantly: I have no clue what type of lcd-screen i have =/ I bought it second-hand, and didn't really read or learn much about lcd-screens back then seeing that it worked 100% with lcd smartie when i first obtained it.
The screen: Image
B) My computer has just been formated / upgraded to vista. There's a lot of software i have yet to install, and i'm wondering if that might be it; Does lcd smartie require any other software? (I guess it requires the net. framework fully updated, but that i allready have).
C) The setup itself. I'm pretty certain i was using the crystalfontz when i first setup my LCD screen, this however is not certain. Though when i try to use any .dll at all, i only recieve this error: Image

What i do know is that it is most definitly plugged to com1, and not the LTP. The screen is furthermore glowing, an indication that it is correctly plugged into the computer (at least).

My computer speccs are futheron:

Windows vista ultimate x32 SP2
AMD Athlon 64 processor (2,60 GHz clocked)
4GB Ram

Just post if you need more information!

I have all in all 0 clue about lcd screens, so the solution might be really obvious and simple to some of you (which i certainly hope). I normally don't like wasting other ppl's time with assistance of these things, but after reading all forums i could find for 2 days straight, i accepted my defeat.

So, any help is accepted gracefully!

Check on the back of the displaymodule to see what manufacturer that made it. Then google it and search for datasheets. Then, either pick the right display plugin in lcdsmartie, or download the right custom display plugin (if it uses some custom usb/serial to paralell conversion like FTDI).

Also, make sure you installed LCDSmartie correctly, so that all those displaydrivers actually exist in "C:\lcd_smartie\displays" or whatever directory you use.

Ok, thanks for the Advice. I finally got the name of my LCD-screen, and downloaded the datasheet. (http://www.tinsharp.com/en/displayprodu ... ID=1506994)

This unfortunately, left me with little new information on why it is not working properly. Perhaps someone could help me figure out what settings i should use?
Thanks Again

Looks like a HD44780 compatible.

For Vista you must install INPOUT32 (it's just a name, there is a driver for x64 too), check the Vista thread ;)
