Post by empi00 »

Hello,

I think i have destroyed my Matrix Orbital Display with Overvoltage. (12Volt, instead of 5Volt)
--> Now i want to try to change the backpack!!
Is there any backpack for 4x40?? (prefered PIC --> F628A, F877, F877A)

greetings
empi

PS: i searched, but i can not find caesar's source, or so!

not sure if there is any.

but the usb2lcd+ project by jeff plans to add support for 4x40 at some point, not sure when though.
that project uses a pic18f2550 or 4550.

you could hook your 4x40 screen up to two of these and run two instances of lcdsmartie, wont be the same thing but better than nothing.

If you applied 12V instead of 5V, the LCD is probably destroyed too...

I don't knowe about backpacks that support 4x40, but you cannot simply use 2 backpacks connected to a 4x40 display (to emulate two 4x20 displays) because the data and control lines from the backpacks cannot be wired in parallel - they will interfere with each other and you'll get garbage on the LCD or even damage the backpacks.
