Need Help with a Smartie module (DE-LD011)
Ok i am totally new here just got this LCD for my PC and trying to make it work. I got it from http://www.frozencpu.com/products/9570/ ... 34c141s469. I am having a hard time with everything. I am currently running Windows 7 32-bit. Here is where i am now i am running the 5.4 LCD Smartie, i have tried to work it like the instructions said on the website, running it in the matrix.dll but it gives me this error message "Failed to open device: DLL initialize error MATRIX.DLL Exception the handle is invalid. But id does seem to work HD44780.dll, but even with that the lcd only works in the computer but the actual LCD on the case will not display any messages other than the one that it has on there when it lights up "LCDSmartie Sure Electronics. And the way i have it hooked up right now is through the mini usb cable, that plugs into the USB slot into the back of my computer not the one into the motherboard. Please HELP, if you need more detail i will, like i said this is new to me and i am just trying to make it work, thanx

It sounds like you might not have the correct COM port number configured for your display.
Have a look at your LCD manual - in the quick start section it shows how to use Device Manager to find the correct COM port number for your LCD. This is probably NOT com4 as shown in the manual. You need to put the correct value into the display startup parameters in Smartie.

According to the manual, you should find a new port called Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge - this is your LCD. It should have (COMx) after it (where x is a number) - this is the port name that you need for Smartie.
If you don't see that entry in device manager (under Ports) then the drivers aren't installed or the LCD isn't correctly connected.
One other thought - are the drivers Win7 compatible? You might have to get a new driver from Silicon Labs - http://www.silabs.com/products/mcu/Page ... ivers.aspx
