Re: Different between edition II and III
You are talking about the LCD and USB controller combos sold on eBay by Sure Electronics right? The main difference between Edition I and Editions II and III is that Editions II and III have a temperature sensor mounted on the controller board. However since it is on the LCD itself it can only measure ambient temperature, and will not work for what you are asking. Also in order to read the temperature sensor you need to be running their LCD software, called Sure-LCD.
To do what you are asking I recommend buying an Edition I (since it's cheapest) and using some LCD Smartie plugins. If you want a little bit more compatibility and have some extra money, you can buy an Edition II or III, which support Sure-LCD as well as LCD Smartie. Also Edition III has a 3-pin 2510 socket that they said they might utilize later for something.
