scroll plugin

Post by usling »

Hi

Would be nice with a plugin that is a bit more clever than the default scrolling options. What i mean is that currently, if a line is the exact or less number of chars than your display can handle it won't scroll (good), but if it's longer it'll scroll without any spaces between end and new beginning of the line. If i want space i have to add manual spaces but this causes the line to scroll way more often.

So something that works exactly like the lcdsmartie default scrolling options but also adds a few spaces (or even let the user customize) between old line and new line.

If anyone would make something like that it would be greatly appreciated :)

There are already several plugins that allow you to do better scrolling that the built-in line scroll.

Check out:

and probably more... search the forum for "scroll" and you'll get loads of info.

Thanks a lot m8. I really appreciate it :)

I did search the forum, and even tried 3 different plugins, but one was buggy and the other two didn't work as i wanted... Scroll gives you loads of hits :?

First one works fine, but it scrolls the text all the time. I just want it to scroll when needed.
Second one i didn't try, will do.
Third one, author says: "It's a bit dirty, it will restart the line right after the string is finished, so if you want to pad it with spaces you have to do it manually."
Fourth one looks promising, will try it out!

Sorry if i sound demanding. It's just that with a 2x16 char display the scrolling function needs to be better than default or else it will scroll all the time which is also not very informative.

edit: fourth one works exactly the way i wanted, awesome! Thanks alot for pointing me in the right direction, and thanks to the author of the plugin. Really nice :smt006 :smt007 :D
