Hello,
Apologies for my naivety, I'm new to this forum. I'm looking for a pre-manufactured LED scrolling display that's compatible with LCD Smartie as I would like to use it to display RSS feeds.
I was wondering if:
a) Anyone would know if the following model would be compatible:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2-Line-3-Color-LE ... 0272347917
b) If not, could anyone recommend any good 2 line LED scrolling displays and if so, let me know where I could buy it from?
Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!
Sam

Re: Hardware Compatibility Question
It's a bit unusual to connect a scrolling message display to something like LCDSmartie. Most LED message boards are designed to store messages and scroll through them without a permanent connection to a PC.
LCD Smartie is designed to directly drive an LCD/VFD module and creates the data to display in real time. I suppose it's possible to make Smartie work with an LED message display, but you'd have to put the display into some kind of "live" mode where it immediately displays the data you send it, rather than cycling through stored messages. You'd probably also need to write a plugin for Smartie to talk to the display (ie to translate Smartie's internal commands to the appropriate commands/data for the LED display).
So, it might work, but almost certainly needs some fiddling and "hacking" to make it work...

Re: Hardware Compatibility Question
This version is compatible. Just hook it up to LPT1 -printer port of your PC.
