How to guide? "Bitcoin donation for fast fix"

Post by murmeln »

Hello! Im new on this forum and a bit of a n00b.
The first setup: imgur com/nKUulKS (removed dot in adres)
lcd crystalfrontz CFAH2004K and usbmicro U431 Module.
And the lcd are showing two lines filled with bars and no back light.
The connections fitted straight on and soldered 1to1 al 16 pins.
Have no idea what drivers or even if its working.

The second seup: imgur com/94dQ9I4 (removed dot in adres)
CFAH2004K and FT245 Board.
The lcd is showing same lines filled with bars but the back light is working on this setup.
Not sure if i did the correct pin out here because the board have some strange names on the diferent pinns.
No idea what drivers to use here either.
This is the pinout i used:
pin. HD44780 -- FT245
1. Ground -- GND
2. VCC -- VCCIO
3. VO -- PWREN#
4. RS -- RST#
5. R/W -- WR#
6. E -- RD#
7. Bit 0 -- D0
8. Bit 1 -- D1
9. Bit 2 -- D2
10. Bit 3 -- D3
11. Bit 4 -- D4
12. Bit 5 -- D5
13. Bit 6 -- D6
14. Bit 7 -- D7
15. Backlight (+) -- VCCIO
16. Backlight (-) -- GND

First of all our form is free in free to use for anyone so thank you but no thank you for the bit coin donation :D The second of all do you have a data sheet for this display for it a proper pin outs? So far your wiring connections look proper but we need to make sure by going online and grabbing a data sheet for your display module. Some of these aftermarket displays have proprietary pinouts so I can't be sure just by looking at you here. You're saying you have solid bars that's a good sign it means your power connections are proper. Go ahead and hook backlight positive and backlight negative directly to VCC in ground. On a standard display you usually use a 10k potentiometer trimmer resistor on either pin five or pin three. This is for your contrast. You should still go grab a data sheet though.
