Hi everyone,
Yesterday, I downloaded LCD Smartie and although the program looks very nice, I spend several hours trying to get it work without any significant success.
I have Zalman HD160 chassis with VFD LCD (Windows XP MC). When I try to run LCD Smartie, the program continuously freezes up. Only one time, somehow I made it display information on the LCD, but when I tried to close out of the program, it froze up again. It gives me a second try only when I unzip the entire archive again, replacing the existing files.
Here is my question: does it matter where the ZIP file being extracted? I just created a folder on my D dive, where I put the unzipped archive. May be it has to be the C:\win\sys32 folder instead? Does is matter at all?
I will greatly appreciate any advise.
Kirill

I think it can go anywhere. I have Smartie in C:\Smartie, for example. All the files go in the same folder (plus its sub-folders like "plugins"). You shouldn't need to put any files in the Windows/system folders.
I don't know about the specific setup for Zalman VFDs, but a couple of others on the forum had similar problems. I think installing the latest IRTrans driver helped.
