German umlaute(???)

Post by RomanticBoy83 »

Hello I'm new here in this forum.
I need help by the output binarycode for a standard HD44780 display.
LCD smartie can not show all german letters like the ?, ? and ?.
I geted the info, that the binarycode of the system is not the same like the code, witch used by the lcd.
What can i do to see the special letters on my display?

There are a couple of character-processing plugins that may be able to help. Do a search on the forum for "sandr" (aka Search And Replace) and "SuperTroca", which can both replace single characters.

Using sandr, you can replace "?" with something like "$Chr(225)", which on my LCD is the code for "a" umlaut.

I haven't used SuperTroca, but it is designed to replace individual characters to the matching accented characters on the LCD (ASCII to LCD translation).

Do you know the character set for your LCD? I think there is a European version and a English/Japanese version. The data sheet for you LCD should list the character set and codes.
