Yeah....... It will give you a error basically stating its 32bit and not compatable or somehting like that... cause I did indeed try it....
**EDIT** Ohhhhhhhhh Interesting..... I will have to try that once I get back home where my 64 system is located.. this looks promising.....anyone else here willing to give it a go asap?

inpout32.dll/inpoutx64.dll a possible solution??
I have found something that might help.
Here is the forum where I found it:
http://forums.gideontech.com/index.php/ ... 0%203.html
Here is the download/information site:
http://www.highrez.co.uk/downloads/inpout32/
Someone converted inpout32 to inpoutx64. They say you need to tell the software to use this file instead of the port95 file. I would have looked at both Smartie's source and inpout's source, but I just realized that my Visual Studio 6.0 software is now very outdated! Can anyone look into this as a viable option and then distribute the new updated software/files to the rest of us who can't compile and build source?

I'm using an amd 64
My brother and I just built a home theater pc. The case he chose has a VFD on it, and it uses Smartie to display the info on it. That's how I found this site.
These are the instructions that were supplied with the case regarding the port. It uses the parallel port.
- download and save www.ahanix.com/download/mce.zip
- from mce.zip install parallelportdriver.exe
for winxp Media Center Edition:
- from mce.zip install dotnetfx.exe (MS .net frame work)
- from mce.zip install VFDdriverMCE.msi
for win98/2000/me/xp
- execute smatie.exe
- click on setup
- select LCE Setting to be PARALLEL PORT (HD44780). Leave the port number at it's default setting.
I'm not a programmer, but I hope that helps.

I have recently done some more work, to make the DLL function compatible with DLPortIO (Port95) so LCD Smartie should just be able to use my DLL.
I havnt been able to test it because my dev machine does not have a parallel port....
Does LCD Smartie work with USB->Parallel converters (I dont suppose it does)????
Anyway, you can download the new version and test it for me if you want to - its on my website.
There are some basic instructions on how to run it with LCDSmartie on the web page and in the zip package.
Thanks,
Phil

Urm, since when has MCE been 64bit?asoap wrote:These are the instructions that were supplied with the case regarding the port. It uses the parallel port.

I think the problem is that the parallelportdriver you talk of will only run on 32bit OS's like MCE, XP, 2000, 2003 - NOT on x64bit OS's like XP-x64 and 2003-x64.
Im trying to solve that by re-writing a compatible 64bit driver to replace the parallelportdriver you mention.
Thanks,
Phil

Our latest beta now uses your inpout32.dll driver so that we can support 64-bit. I should be posting the beta version within the next couple of days (once we make sure there are no blatant errors still).
USB->Parallel converters "should" work. I say this because I haven't tested it, and I'm making some assumptions about how they work. If they just show up as a parallel port, then you can select that port in the output plugin and it will "just work". Otherwise, we may have to make some modifications to allow for that. I'm quite interested in testing that and making changes as necessary.
