serial backpack unit from nkc electronics

I have purchased a serial backpack unit from nkc electronics. The unit works i can get some details but mostly jibberish can anyone help me?

you must use the test driver and change the ini file for the driver according to screen specs for commands.

I dont have a lot of experience in the software side. The display is a hd44780 controller 16x2 so i put that in the ini file?
