I bought a few months ago a OLED display. All was great but now, some pixels are dark or smaller than others.
Do you think that the display is damaged, spent or not correctly wired? Or maybe something else...
My personal opinion, based on just a few readings of OLED datasheets is that considering the life expectancy, those pixels are almost dead or already dead.
This OLED cost me 2x more than a LCD that I bought earlier...I know, that OLED is a quite new technology but a life cycle is this display is pathetic...LCD is not for me while it has backlight - it mess up my sensation while lookin' on it.
A VFD is a better choice to get. Used units can be pretty cheap and some emulate HD44780 behavior while others can be connected serially by design.
Be warned though that some cannot be used as they lack documentation.
VFD life expectancy is great but power consumption goes through the roof
I've searched about VFD and maybe I'll buy it someday, but while googling about it, I've seen some more interesting thing Someone placed a normal LCD in his PC For Windows it's just a another display and you can put there what you want
Hmmm, I think it's only an optional display, not for wathing movies etc It's larger than 4x20 alphanumeric and I could write my own apps for displaying infos on this display, or just use Samurize.
