Hi!
Sorry to bring bad news, but the display is a graphical one.
You can't connect it with LCD Smartie directly on the parallel port.
I could be possible to make a small microcontroller board to keep the display data and update the display, connecting it serially or through USB emulating an existing protocol for communication but this endeavor is solely up to you.

do not throw it yet, you can connect it to lcdstudio, it's for graphical displays
