Midi support (donation available!)

Does anyone have any experience writing plugins that will support midi data? I'd love to be able to route midi out of a sequencer, through a virtual midi output into LCDSmartie (and I know a few other people who'd like this as well!) I'd actually be willing to donate some money, if anyone's up to the task?
