Been checking out this forum for a while but only just decided to register and post when i came across a bluebox pc (Some sort of firewall) anyway It has a lcd in it made by winstar wh2402a http://www.winstar.com.tw/products_deta ... n&ProID=39
It is run by board that appears to be made by netbox which has a pic16c745-1 Chip on it.
This board also connects to the main board through a usb connection.
I am now running windows xp on this machine and is a sort of cheapo file server/torrent client
I'm new to all this and i am just wondering if there is an easy way to program it without hardware or at low expense?
The backplate is a custom USB to parallel interface.
I assume you have some drivers for this device or at list an inf file provided by manufacturer in order to make windows recognize it....
First of all you have to check your device manager for USB to serial or USB devices that corresponds to this LCD.
Since you have USB connection it must be at least one device under device manager.
After that you can try Matrix Orbital based serial driver and also test driver to see i you can drive this specific module
No i don't have any sort of information at all, it did not have a hdd in it so i cant get it from there and it is so old that it is no longer even listed on the netbox website not that i can find anyway
I will contact them to see if they are helpfull at all
But for now all i have is the device id
Device instance id:
usb/vid_ffff&pid_0001\5&14319c1c&0&2
I think if it were a HID or CDC device it would just install on windows, so it must be some custom protocol (hence the weird VID and PID).
Best option if you don't put your hands on some specs for the custom USB adapter is to strip the LCD, trash the adapter and use the bit-bang cheap USB version available here on the forums to connect to the LCD.
