My 4x40 display not working

Post by kazanova84 »

Hi Guys!

I tryed to connect my wh4004a display to PC (4x40, KS0066 chip compartible with hd44780). Used this wiring. When connected to PC, I can see the backlight and 2 test-lines of black squares - it's ok. When started smarty 5.4, nothing chanched. Preview screen shows information, but LCD has no reaction. Many times rechecked wirings - it's all right. Tried different port numbers (changed in bios and program) and different modes, different timing multipliers (from 1 to 5) - nothing.

With the programs from port95nt set, tried to write different numbers to 378 address and measured voltage on data-pins (1-8 on LCD). They seemed to be negotive logic: when I wrote 0x0, all pins showed about 4.5 volts, when wrote 0xff - about 0 volts. Is it ok?? And when I read byte from port, it returns 0xff, or 0x20. It seems to be random, but LPT-port input contacts are shorted to ground!

Help, please!

Motherboard: Abit NF-7S
OS: WinXP

PS: sorry for my english
