I have a bus ticket machine, i plan to hook up the keypad matrix to the computer via a usb input board (leo bodnar BU0836, i already use one for the button input panel and clutch and handbrake axis)
And i want to hook up the lcd via usb too, and then get the text that is displayed onthe in-game ticket machines lcd displayed on the real one, (game/sim is OMSI, and someone has already done a plugin to get some text from another lcd on the virtual bis dash to a keyboard that has an lcd on it)
anyway, i'm unsure if the lcd i have will even be usable, it's 2 x 40, has a 14 pin connetor that is 2 rows of 7 side by side,
all identifying marks i can find are :
on the pcb:
OPVO
REV.E
V0022499
A sticker on the metal bezel around the lcd:
2014STLDYGBN-E
525
and the big chip says : SEC 540B
KS0066F00
Any suggestion on what i need to buy to be able to hook this up to the computer via USB (no other ports available... tho the MB has a headder for a serial port) and if it's even likely to work.
i can solder, etch pcb's if i have to, but have never programmed any chips or done any programming on the computer.

Re: Warning: newbie: what do i need to get this lcd to work
Meh,
Bought a lcd mod kit module, figured out which pin is + and - on the lcd, plugged it in, and she works, got all the basic smartie functions going to the lcd now,
i just need to figure out how to extract the virtual lcd data from a simulator and get it displayed on the real lcd, that will be the hard part as i know naff all about programming.
