CustomChars displaying on Virtual display

As LCDSmartie is being coded again, I thought I'd mention something I'd like to see in a new version.
The Virtual display doens't display exactly what's sent to the LCD. Is there a way customchars could display properly in a new version of the virtual display?
It would mean we can take screen grabs of the virtual display, rather than photos of the real LCD, when showing off screens that contain customchars.

This next version of Smartie has great potential.
