100% noob to lcds and need help

where do I start??? what I would like to use are these camera viewfinders that I have. they have motorola (I think I havent opened it for a while) controler and have 6 pins comeing out on the ribbon cable. can somebody point me in the right direction and or help me step by step

As far as my knowledge goes those 6 wires should be Vcc Vss luminance and chrominance, that means it's use is as a very small monitor (I don't know exactly the pinout).
LCDSmartie can't drive this screen, but you cold connect it as a monitor in your computer and show different screens on it.

that sucks I cant use it...


while I was waiting for a reply ive been trying out LCD smartie with my PALM useing PalmOrb. Im thinking about going out and buying an lcd now(or staying where im at and buying one on ebay :D )

I have a caller id screen and a canon photocopyer lcd screen somewhere. is it possible to use those and how would I wire it?

That doesnt look like a character display. What are some of the part numbers on the chips on the back of the display?

The canon screen could work if it's a dot matrix display. What's writing on the chips on the back of the display?

As for the other display in your pics: turn it on and if it looks like

then you are all set to build your own display.

This is what a "Dot Matrix Display" should look like, and with this type of displays is LCDSmartie working.

for the canon display the part number is DMF-50316N by OPTREX

3 of the chips are toshiba T6A39
1 toshiba is a T6A40
1 toshiba is a T6963C
1 sanyo chip is LC3564sm-85
1 unnamed chip is C324G
1 unnamed chip is 9652H
